Heard about our Digital Drop-In?

Did you know we hold a free Digital Drop-In every month? It’s run by our Digital Health Lead, Rachael Findlay-Geer, and our Compassionate Communities Lead, Lucy Cheshire. We spoke to patient Christine who used the service to access online video meeting app Zoom, and the NHS app, meaning she can now order prescriptions on her phone.

“I’m not very digitally minded. I’m from the generation that didn’t have computers; you did everything on paper or in your head. So, when I was told I’d need to get Zoom on my computer so I could attend virtual relaxation classes that hospice Complementary Therapist Angie runs, I needed help. I’d never even heard of Zoom!

Initially, a friend tried to set it up on my computer, but it didn’t work. That’s when I turned to the Digital Drop-In team. I’d heard about the sessions when I was at a craft group at the hospice and picked up a leaflet.

So, I took my iPad along to Lucy and Rachael who run the drop-in and they talked me through everything. It was so easy to understand. Now, I’m set up on Zoom, Facebook, can email letters to my relatives in Australia, and play games such as Solitaire.

Lucy and Rachael also helped me get the NHS app on my phone, which means I can order my prescriptions easily and without contacting my GP surgery.

St Wilfrid’s is brilliant and there’s much more there than people realise. Nothing is too much trouble. If you have a problem, you can ask – it doesn’t matter how big or small. And it’s reassuring to know I can turn to Lucy and Rachael if I have any technical issues in the future.”

Digital Drop-Ins are held on the first Wednesday of the month between 9am and 10.30am in The Street Café. No need to book – just turn up.
